Keel was founded in 2021 by three former executives from Echo — Europe's fastest growing online pharmacy, later acquired by Pharmacy2U — who served as CEO, CTO, and CPO. At Echo, they built custom operations software to ship 50,000 medicines to 600,000 customers daily, growing the business to $130m in annual revenue. They didn't set out to build so much custom tooling, but off-the-shelf options were too inflexible for a highly regulated, fast-moving environment. That experience made clear how critical it is to own your operations software and iterate on it quickly. Keel is the platform they wished had existed — giving operators everywhere the power to build and own production systems as unique as their business, without needing a large development team.
